Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Dehradun – Drive to Barsu Village (2,200 m)

Your journey into the Garhwal Himalaya begins with a warm welcome in Dehradun, followed by a scenic mountain drive to the charming village of Barsu, the traditional starting point of the Dayara Bugyal trek.

The road winds through pine forests, riverside towns, and terraced hillsides, offering beautiful glimpses of rural Uttarakhand. Upon arrival in Barsu, settle into a comfortable homestay or campsite. In the evening, meet your trek leader for a detailed briefing, equipment check, and introduction to the days ahead.

Day 2: Trek to Dayara Bugyal (3,000 m)

After breakfast, begin your trek through dense oak and rhododendron forests, gradually ascending along well-defined trails. The forest slowly opens up to reveal rolling alpine meadows—your first glimpse of the legendary Dayara Bugyal.

Dayara Bugyal is one of India’s most beautiful high-altitude meadows, spreading endlessly with panoramic views of peaks like Bandarpunch, Kala Nag, and Srikanth. The open grasslands, changing light, and fresh mountain air make this day truly unforgettable.

Day 3: Trek to Syari Bugyal (3,400 m)

Today’s walk is gentle and scenic, traversing vast alpine pastures with uninterrupted mountain views. The trail remains mostly gradual, allowing time to enjoy the silence, wildflowers, and expansive landscapes that define the Dayara region.

By afternoon, reach Syari Bugyal, a quieter and more secluded meadow nestled high in the mountains. This campsite offers dramatic sunset views and a strong sense of wilderness—perfect for acclimatisation and reflection.

Overnight: Camps at Syari Bugyal

Day 4: Day Hike to Surya Top (3,750 m) – Return to Syari

An early start takes you on a rewarding day hike to Surya Top, the highest point of the trek. The ascent is steady and exhilarating, culminating in breathtaking 360-degree views of the Garhwal Himalaya.

From the summit, witness iconic peaks such as Bandarpunch I & II, Kala Nag, and distant Himalayan ranges glowing in the morning light. After spending time at the summit, descend back to Syari Bugyal for a relaxed afternoon and well-earned rest.

Day 5: Trek back to Barsu Village

Retrace your steps downhill through lush meadows and forests, enjoying changing perspectives of the landscape. The descent is comfortable and scenic, bringing you back to the familiar warmth of Barsu village by late afternoon.

Spend your final evening in the mountains sharing stories, enjoying local cuisine, and celebrating a successful Himalayan journey.

Overnight: Guesthouse / Camp at Barsu

Day 6: Exploration at Tapovan, with the option to trek up towards the Meru base camp.

Free to acclimatize, relax and enjoy the magnificent snow capped peaks, flora & Fauna and mountain landscape. Optional day hike towards Mt. Meru base camp.

Distance : 4 km/ 2-3 hrs

Overnight : Camp
Meal : B, L, D

Day 6: Drive back through the deep valleys of the Garhwal Himalaya to Rishikesh. 170 km /5-6 hrs

After breakfast, bid farewell to the mountains and begin your return drive to Dehradun airport/railway station for your onward journey home. Carry unforgettable memories of alpine meadows, golden sunsets, and serene Himalayan trails.
